Introduction to Rally Obedience

Obedience with a Fun Twist!

Rally Obedience is a dog sport that combines traditional obedience training with agility-like fun. Unlike traditional obedience trials, which are often more formal and strict, rally obedience allows you to talk to and encourage your dog throughout the course.

Key features of rally obedience:

  • Course-based: Teams follow a pre-set course marked with signs that indicate specific exercises.
  • Variety of exercises: Exercises can include heeling, sitting, downing, staying, jumping, and more.
  • Positive reinforcement: The emphasis is on rewarding good behavior rather than punishing mistakes.
  • Different levels: There are multiple levels of competition to accommodate dogs of all ages and abilities.
  • Suitable for all breeds: Any dog can participate in rally obedience, regardless of breed or size.

Benefits of rally obedience:

  • Improved bond: It strengthens the bond between the dog and handler.
  • Mental stimulation: It provides mental exercise for the dog.
  • Physical exercise: It keeps the dog physically active.
  • Socialization: It offers opportunities for socialization with other dogs and their handlers.
  • Confidence building: It can help build the dog's confidence and self-esteem.
